Veteran Benefits

Q: Who is eligible to receive Veteran Assistance?
A: Veterans and/or their spouses.

Q: In order to qualify, must the Veteran served in a war?
A: No. The Veteran did not have to be in war, but must have served during a time of war.

Q: Can a Veteran qualify if he or she is receiving disability payments?
A: If they are receiving 100% disability, they are not eligible for this benefit. If they are receiving less than 100%, then it is possible they may be eligible for benefits.

Q: If a widowed spouse has remarried, do they still qualify?
A: No.

Q: How long does it take to start receiving this benefit?
A: It could take up to six (6) months but the benefit is paid retroactively to the date of the application.

Eldercare Referral Service

Q: Is there a fee for the referral service?
A: No. We will work with you to find the ideal living arrangements for you or your loved one absolutely FREE!

Q: How does the referral process work?
A: After your initial request, we contact you to set up an initial consultation (via phone or in person). After the initial consultation, we will schedule visits and take you and/or your loved one to locations (or meet you there, whichever is most convenient) and assist you until you find a place that meets your needs.

Attorney At Law

Q: In what areas of law do you practice?
A: VA ”Aid and Attendance” representation; Wills, Trusts, Probate and related matters.

Estate Liquidation

Q: What does estate liquidation include?
A: It includes pricing all items in the home. We remove items not sold and donate them to non-profit organizations and then work with cleaning services to prepare your home so it is 'real estate' ready.

Hospice Care

Q: Who pays for Vitas’ hospice services?
A: VITAS accepts many forms of reimbursement for its services to include VA, TRIcare, Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance.

In Home Care

Q: What is non-medical in home care?
A: Non-medical in home care services offer a cost effective solution to individuals who need assistance with the activities of daily living (ADLs) either as a stand-alone service, or as a supplement to other skilled home health services.

Q: What services can be provided?
A: Specific services include:

  • Assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming
  • Ambulation assistance
  • Medication reminders and exercise assistance
  • Light housework including laundry
  • Nutritious meal preparation
  • Local transportation to doctors and other appointments

Q: Are Right at Home’s caregivers screened, insured and bonded?
A: All caregivers have undergone rigorous criminal, abuse registry and reference background checks. Social Security, federal and state taxes are paid by Right at Home as well as unemployment, worker’s compensation and liability insurance.

Q: Is the cost covered by insurance or other assistance programs?
A: Right at Home has a fee range depending upon services provided. There is no minimum number of service days per week, no contracts obligating one to a specific amount of time. Payment is private or covered by long-term insurance.

Banking Services

Q: My parents have their Social Security deposited directly to their current bank; it's too hard to change it. How do I change it?
A: Changing the Social Security direct deposit, or any direct deposit is actually fairly easy. Government forms are available for all entities.
